  My wife and I attended Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church on Sunday July 28, 2013.
  
  Dress code: Men attire was business casual with most wearing short sleeved dress shirts or polo shirts.
  Women attire was equal to mens. No jeans but some wore slacks.
  
  Appearance: the Church was very clean and orderly. The church has been updated in its appearance.
  
  People: the members did go out of their way to say hello to us in a very kind and welcoming way. The couple behind us was especially kind and asked personal questions that made us feel more at home.
  
  The Music: there was a nice mix of old and new songs. The instruments ranged from a piano to a trumpet. The band was made up of two guitars one electric drum set and a floor drum all of which appeared to be played by teenager the piano and trumpet were not. The sound was perfect.
  
  The Preacher: His sermon was very well thought out it was displayed in a way that it fed not only young Christians but advance level Christians as well. His sermon was based on scripture that appeared on the overhead and he read it verbatim and then led the flock as he broke down the scripture and made his points. It was not a traditional sermon that most Baptists could recite and a whim.
  
  The End: the sermon ended with an alter call and then a word of prayer. On our way out a woman stopped us to tell us she was sorry she had not made it over to welcome us. The pastor was shaking hands with everyone as they walk out the door and made a point to thank us for visiting. We did not say we were visiting.
  
  The Extra point: When the children were called for Children’s church the pastor sat on one knee and read the children several verse as they circled around him. The children sat very still and listened as he spoke they took it all in and when he was done they walked off to their class. The passage he read to the kids led right in to the sermon he preached to the adults giving the impression that the entire church was teaching and learning the same message.
  
  Thing I would have liked: There was no invitation from the staff or the other members to see us, the visitor, again. I don’t mean next Sunday. There was nothing in the bulletin that said “dinner with the pastor.” It was a very friendly place to go. However; it would have been nice if someone would have invited us to lunch after church or for the next Sunday.
  
  Overall impression the church gets 4 out of 5.
  I will recommend it to a friend.
